Acknowledging New Devices on Zenconsole

When Zenarmor detects new devices on your network, a notification banner appears on the Devices page of the selected gateway. So that you may acknowledge and decide whether you want to trust newly detected devices.

To access the Devices page, follow these steps:

  1. Open your browser and navigate to Zenconsole.
  2. Sign in using your Zenconsole credentials.
  3. Navigate to Global Deployments in Zenconsole.
  4. Expand Devices on Gateways from the left sidebar.
  5. Select a gateway.

After selecting a gateway, the Devices page opens and newly detected devices are displayed under the New category.

Viewing Newly Detected Devices

You may click the View button in the notification banner or select the New category from the left sidebar to display recently discovered devices.

These devices are newly detected by Zenarmor and may still be undergoing identification analysis.

You may view the details of each device by clicking on them individually. In most cases, you will see a message indicating that Initial identification in progress on the details page of a recently discovered device. That means Zenarmor has not yet finalized the procedure for device identification. Consequently, certain fields of the device's information, such as category, operating system, and hardware vendor, might be inaccurate, and Zenarmor may update them autonomously in the future.

Devices first seen within the last 48 hours may display the Initial identification in progress* message.

Performing Bulk Actions on Newly Detected Devices

Zenconsole allows administrators to manage multiple newly detected devices simultaneously using the Bulk Actions panel located on the right side of the page.

You may perform the following bulk actions on newly detected devices:

  • Mark as Trusted
  • Mark as Untrusted
  • Change Category
  • Delete Devices

You may follow the next steps to mark newly detected devices as trusted or untrusted in a bulk operation:

  1. Open your browser and navigate to Zenconsole.

  2. Sign in using your Zenconsole credentials.

  3. Navigate to Global Deployments in Zenconsole.

  4. Expand Devices on Gateways from the left sidebar.

  5. Select a gateway.

  6. Click on the View button in the notification bar at the top of the page, or click on the New menu on the left-hand side of the page. These will list the newly discovered devices.

  7. Click the Select All button in the notification bar at the top of the page. This will automatically select all detected devices.

    tip

    To remove the selection from the device list, you may click the Unselect All button in the notification bar located at the top of the page or the Clear link situated on the right-hand side of the page.

  8. Use the Bulk actions panel on the right side of the page to choose the desired action. This will open a window for confirming the operation.

  9. Click the Confirm button to confirm the bulk update. This will automatically remove the New menu from the left sidebar on the Devices page list, removing the devices.

You may also manage a newly detected device individually from its device details page. Individual actions include starring, hiding, or trusting the device, viewing device details, managing child devices, and controlling automatic identification settings.
