Managing Endpoints

Zenarmor-installed end-user devices, such as desktop PCs, laptops, and even servers, are classified as endpoints in your Zenconsole organization. With Zenarmor on your endpoint, you do not need a separate firewall appliance located in the perimeter of your LAN or the edge of your WAN connection to protect your device against cyber threats from the Internet.

Before the release of 1.18, which comes with Windows endpoint support and central management capabilities, you need a routing and firewall platform, such as OPNsense or pfSense, and you need to install Zenarmor NGFW for safeguarding clients on your network. This was a pretty straightforward and traditional cybersecurity solution that effectively protects local users. But, for the last few years, users may connect to the Internet and access your company's resources from anywhere in the world that is not under your control and may not be secure. As of Zenarmor 1.18, you can protect your remote users easily without any need to backhaul their traffic to your data center over VPN, which causes latency and user complaints.

Endpoint devices may have Zenarmor running on the following platforms.

  • Microsoft Windows 10
  • Microsoft Windows 11
  • Microsoft Server 2019
  • Microsoft Server 2022
  • macOS 15
  • Linux Desktop Distributions (Linux Mint, Fedora 41, Ubuntu 24.10)

Zenconsole enables you to view and manage endpoints in your organization easily. You can define endpoint-specific policies and view their traffic on a central dashboard.

Viewing Endpoints

To view your endpoints, you may follow the steps given below:

  1. Login Zenconsole and then select the organization you want to manage.

  2. Navigate to the Settings > Endpoints page.

  3. All endpoint devices registered to your organization are listed in alphabetical order.

The Endpoints page displays the following details:

  • Endpoints: Hostname of the endpoint device
  • User Email: Email address of the user who has already signed in to the organization via endpoint device.
  • OS Vendor: The operating system vendor of the device, such as Microsoft.
  • Platform: The operating system version of the device, such as Windows 10 Pro.
  • Location: GeoIP location of the device.
  • Latest Activity: Time elapsed since the last communication between the endpoint devices and Zenconsole. Zenarmor instances running on endpoints synchronize their states with Zenconsole periodically, every 15 min.

Searching Endpoints

Zenconsole enables you to seek an endpoint by its hostname or email address. To locate an endpoint in your endpoints' list, enter its name or email address into the search field. This will automatically update the endpoint list below, and the endpoint you are seeking will be displayed.
